King Prawns are nocturnal animals as  ie; they are more active at night. They are benthic dwelling animals which means they live on the seafloor. During the day and in bright moonlight, King Prawns burrow into the seabed sedimentation.

King Prawns were first trawled from the Spencer Gulf by the fishery investigations ship Endeavour in 1909. The first commercial attempt at prawn trawling by a Danish seine boat was made in 1948, which was unsuccessful.
